Heat Gain and Heat Loss of a Building

Learn about the various ways that heat transfers in and out of a building and how to quantify it. Air conditioners are sized based on the amount of heat gained into a building in order to offset it for human comfort. Heat pumps and furnaces are sized to offset the amount of heat that is lost from a building. Human comfort and system sizing is extremely important. A heat load and loss calculation must be done on the building before system sizing can be determined or any installation or replacement work can be performed.
